Foster Parent Training
Mandatory Training
LINK Pre-Service Caregiver Training (previously PRIDE Pre-Service)
These modules provide an introduction to the role of a foster caregiver in British Columbia. Through practical examples, real-life scenarios, self-reflection activities, and interactive learning, you will explore the child welfare system, the role of caregivers, trauma-informed care, permanency, cultural safety, foster home standards, funding, and the skills needed to support children and youth. By the end of this 20 hour self-directed training, you will be better prepared to decide whether becoming a foster caregiver is right for you and your family.
Your Resource Social Worker will register you for the training.
LINK In-Service Caregiver Training (previously PRIDE In-Service)
These modules build on your existing knowledge and experience as a caregiver. Through practical examples, reflection activities, and real-life caregiving scenarios, you will explore ways to support children and youth in care through strong relationships, trauma-informed caregiving, cultural safety, family connections, advocacy, and wellness. This 20 hour, self-directed course will help you strengthen the skills and knowledge needed to create safe, supportive, and nurturing environments where children and youth can thrive.
Your Resource Social Worker will register you for the training.
