Out of Care Providers (Caregivers/Kinship Care)
Any parent will tell you raising a child is one of the most rewarding and challenging jobs out there. Out of Care/Kinship Care Providers are adults looking after children who cannot currently live with their biological parents. This may be for a short time or for an extended period of time. Children and youth who have experienced trauma, interruptions in attachment and other complexities require their caregiver to have a high degree of compassion accompanied by expertise in many areas. The Support To Family Care Network Program (STFC) encourages and promotes the knowledge and skills of caregivers by offering training, support and resources. We support caregivers as they offer stable homes for children and youth to thrive.
The STFC program provides confidential support and assists in creating and helping to maintain working relationships between caregivers and others (e.g. Ministry of Children and Family Development and Indigenous Child and Family Service Agency social workers, community agencies, and each other). This is done through regular communication such as meetings and 1-1 conversations.
