Welcome East Kootenay / Golden Community Members!

Welcome to the East Kootenay in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. This area is made up of different communities ranging from mining to tourism due to the outdoor life available. It has as many different personalities and life styles as the different communities and jobs would suggest. This has made for the most wonderfully divergent group of foster parents imaginable to work with.

Meet Your Network Facilitator

I have been lucky enough to have worked in a variety of settings with both youth and caregivers. This has included: foster care, group homes and treatment centers. I have also worked at youth employment programs and outreach programs. This is my third province working in the field and the one that seems to be making me the most happy.

I started working for Canadian Mental health in BC and then Boys and Girls club for a while and then settled on making fostering a full time process. I have fostered many youth between 10 and 18 years old and transitioned some of them into adult services with CLBC and Community Connection.

During this time I have also had the opportunity to be involved in several roles with the BC Foster Parent Association included the honour of being Vice President and President. The idea of supporting Foster Parents as a way to be helpful seemed to sit well with me, which helped direct me toward Interior Community Services and the Support to Family Care Network Program. I have been doing this for a number of years now and it is still one of the more fulfilling parts of my life.

I try and use my varied experience to do my best in helping Foster Parents be successful and happy in the difficult task they have taken on. I look forward to continuing to give what advice and support I can to all the foster parents in my area.
